Thoughts on Borrowed Time. As I sit with my dying father-in-law I’m reminded of the Latin phrase Memento Mori, Memento Vivere: Remember that you must die, so remember that you must live
So sorry to hear about your father-in-law Tamela! Thank you for sharing this heartfelt post and reminding us how coming face-to-face with mortality helps crystalize what really matters.
Wishing you, Matt and the rest of your family peace, strength, and love during this difficult time.
Sorry to hear about Matt‘s father, Tamela. It is not easy to stand watch as someone‘s life comes to an end, but it is important to do it for him and also for you. Acknowledging that we all have an (albeit unknown) expiration date is difficult, but as you‘ve written it opens the door to putting thought into how we are using the time we have.
Your comment about killing time scrolling hit home for me. I will call my mom later, as it is a privilege to still be able to do so. It’s also time to delete that cesspool of an app, Twitter.
Wishing you, Matt and all Matt‘s family peace and strength in this process as well as in the days and weeks to come.

Thank you so much, Hanna ❤️
Keeping watch is a hard job. My thoughts are with you and your family.
“Keeping watch” is bringing up a lot of things about myself that I haven’t realized need to be examined. I appreciate those words, Patti.
